Health and Safety
Protecting our teams, our clients and the public
Safety first is not just a slogan its an ideology that we apply to everything we do
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
At Gibbs Group, we put health, safety, and wellbeing first—every day, on every project. Our goal is simple: make safe planning and safe behaviour the instinctive default, protecting our people, our clients, and the communities around our sites.
Supported by specialist health & safety advisers, we manage risk through clear planning, strong supervision, and disciplined site standards—because consistent control is what delivers consistent outcomes. We also recognise that wellbeing includes mental health, and we promote a culture where people can speak up early, get support, and go home safe in every sense of the word.

Protecting Our Teams
Our commitment is simple: deliver successful projects while protecting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our people, our clients, and the residents and building users affected by the works. We take a structured, risk-led approach—planned properly, supervised properly, and managed consistently across every site.
We work alongside independent specialist construction health and safety advisers to strengthen our controls and keep our approach aligned with current legislation and recognised best practice. This partnership helps ensure we operate to a consistent standard across our divisions and supply chain, while maintaining a service that is considerate, organised, and safe in live or occupied environments.
In practice, this means we: operate in line with applicable UK construction health and safety requirements (including CDM 2015); maintain a comprehensive Health & Safety policy and supporting procedures across all activities; deliver role-appropriate training and ongoing site briefings so expectations are clear; and consult regularly with our workforce and delivery partners to drive engagement, learn from feedback, and continuously improve.

Safety First

Independent HSEQ support strengthens how we plan, supervise, and control risk across our sites. It reinforces a responsible culture where health and safety procedures aren’t treated as paperwork—they’re treated as the standard for how work is delivered, every day.
Through regular site inspections and structured reporting, our performance is reviewed at defined intervals and challenged where improvements can be made. Findings are captured, actions are tracked, and lessons learned are fed back into our planning—so standards stay consistent and our service to clients continues to improve.
In practice, we keep workplaces safe by operating to clear safe systems of work and task-specific controls, ensuring appropriate training is in place (including asbestos awareness where relevant), and maintaining effective first-aid arrangements on site. We also recognise that wellbeing includes mental health, and we actively promote awareness and support by signposting industry resources such as Mates in Mind.
